As of January 1, 2022, employers in BC will be required under the Employment Standards Act to provide a minimum number of paid sick days for workers.
Between August 5, 2021 to September 14, 2021, employers and workers of BC were invited to participate in separate surveys seeking their input on the paid sick leave offered at their current workplaces as well as the structure of the upcoming provincial model. Over 26,000 survey responses were collected, which helped inform the Options Paper released on September 22, 2021.
The BC government is currently in Phase 2 of its public engagement process in which it is seeking feedback on the Options Paper, outlining three proposed models for paid sick leave - three, five or ten days per year. Have your say and take the survey at:

The survey is open until October 25, 2021.
New regulations are expected to be passed by end of November.
