FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KELOWNA, B.C. - CapriCMW Insurance Services Ltd. has pledged $25,000 to support the construction of JoeAnna’s House, a home away from home for families of out-of-town patients at Kelowna General Hospital. The cause hits close to home for this local organization, which has been operating for 43 years. In 2016 one of CapriCMW’s team members had to spend months at Ronald MacDonald House in Vancouver after her son was born extremely premature. Without Ronald MacDonald House, Kandace and her family would have been under significant financial and emotional strain on top of dealing with her son’s early start in life.

Kandace and her family

CapriCMW’s team member, Kandace, spent months in Ronald MacDonald House following her son’s premature birth.

In Kandace’s words - “I have been following the fundraising for JoeAnna’s House and am thrilled that we will have such a support in our community for families in need. Being able to be close to our son and focus all of our attention on him was invaluable and had a major impact of Dominic’s recovery.”

At the time CapriCMW supported Kandace and her family’s desire to give back by hosting a staff fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House. Knowing there are countless families like Kandace’s it only made sense for CapriCMW to support JoeAnna’s House and help provide these much needed facilities close to home.

“One of the values at the core of who we are as a company is a commitment to community. We are dedicated to the places we call home and the people who share where we live and work. Our employees live and breathe this core value every day through the work they do in service to our local communities,” says Tim Miller, Co-President of CapriCMW. “We are pleased to help bring to life this urgently needed facility, and support the incredible, life-saving care provided by the team at Kelowna General Hospital.”

“CapriCMW has been a valuable friend to our organization for many years. Their commitment to social responsibility and corporate citizenship demonstrates real leadership in our community,” notes Allison Ramchuck, Director of Philanthropy at the KGH Foundation. “We are so grateful that they believe in this project as much as we do.”

The project is scheduled to break ground this fall and open its doors in late 2019. To learn more and donate to JoeAnna’s House, visit kghfoundation.com/joeannas-house.
