Taking place at Rotary Beach on August 12, 2018, the PIHL Paddle for Prevention raises funds for BrainTrust Canada, a non-profit organization dedicated to brain injury prevention, education and support.

At this event, teams of four compete in stand-up paddle boarding relay races. The race includes a 100 metre sprint around a buoy and back. It's a fun family-friendly event, with many participants getting on a paddle board for the first time!

In 2017, 168 paddlers participated and raised over $47,000! The fundraising goal for 2018 is $50,000. Help reach this goal and support this great cause by:

About BrainTrust Canada

Approximately 1.5 million people in Canada are living with a brain injury and there are 60 new cases of brain injury in BC everyday. The incidence of acquired brain injury outnumbers breast cancer, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and HIV/AIDS combined. Founded in 1986 by a  small group of people who recognized a need for greater support and resources for those affected by brain injury, BrainTrust Canada focuses on reducing preventable brain injury and providing support services for those affected by brain injury. With brain injury being the greatest killer and cause of disability under the age of 35, BrainTrust Canada is working to keep youth safe by providing bicycle helmets to those whose families can't afford one and making presentations in schools to about 750 youth in Kelowna each year. Additionally, they've  hosted an annual brain injury symposium with Pushor Mitchell LLP for over 25 years, well-attended by medical professionals, non-profit support workers, caregivers, families, and individuals dealing with brain injury.
